Cooperating Personnel Benefits

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign will provide cooperating personnel two forms of tangible benefits: an Allied Organization Staff Identification Card valid for one calendar year and a tuition and service fee waiver valid for four terms after the semester of service.

Allied Organization Staff ID Card

The Allied Organization Staff ID card entitled the bearer to (i) the use of library facilities while physically present in an Urbana campus library facility; (ii) purchase of Division of Intercollegiate Athletic season ticket packages at the faculty/staff discount price; and (iii) use of the facilities and services of the Division of Campus Recreation at faculty/staff prices. Upon request, CoTE will process an Allied Organization Staff ID card for all eligible district cooperating personnel for whom a confirmed placement has been received and for all eligible administrators identified by the district via the CoTE Administrative Waiver form to have responsibilities related to the coordination of student teaching, internship, or early field experience activities. CoTE will send this form to the district at the end of each semester of service provided.

Waivers

  1. A tuition and service fee waiver exempts the cooperating personnel/enrolled Illinois student from the following assessments: (i) tuition costs incurred for any non-restricted courses during the term in which exemption is requested; (ii) Illinois service fees incurred in registration during the term in which exception is requested; (iii) application fee incurred if the student applied for admission to an Illinois graduate program during the term in which exemption is requested; (iv) McKinley Health Center fees for students registering in on campus courses.
  2. A tuition and service fee waiver will not exempt the cooperating personnel/enrolled Illinois student from the medical insurance fees. Medical insurance fees are waived only if the cooperating personnel/enrolled Illinois student demonstrates at the time of registration medical insurance equivalent in coverage to that offered by Illinois.
  3. A tuition and service fee waiver will not exempt the cooperating personnel/enrolled Illinois student from laboratory fees incurred as part of any course.
  4. CoTE will process a tuition and service fee waiver for all eligible district cooperating personnel for whom a confirmed placement requiring a minimum of 45 clock hours of personnel time has been received.
  5. CoTE will process a tuition and service fee waiver for all eligible administrators identified by the district via the CoTE Administrative Waiver Form to have responsibilities related to coordination of student teaching, internship, or early field experience activities. CoTE will send this form to the district at the end of each semester of service provided.
  6. Tuition and service fee waivers are not transferable and may only be used by the cooperating personnel to whom it was assigned.
  7. Cooperating personnel can receive from any CoTE-related source only one tuition and service fee waiver per term.
  8. Tuition and service fee waivers are valid for one term only and must be used within four consecutive terms beginning with the term immediately following the term in which the person qualified for the waiver.
  9. Tuition and service fee waivers may be applied to courses for credit at any of the three universities within the University of Illinois System. Use of waivers is subject to applicable University of Illinois System policies. Each university may restrict the use of waivers.
  10. The cooperating personnel or listed administrator receiving the tuition and service fee waiver is responsible for all tax reporting related to waiver benefits received.

Pooled Waivers

Illinois will provide pooled tuition and service waivers to qualifying cooperating districts as follows, subject to the same conditions that apply to waivers issued to cooperating personnel: (i) districts that accept 10 or more candidates will be provided additional waivers equivalent to one-tenth of the total qualifying placements in that district during the previous academic year; (ii) the district will develop its own policy for distribution of pooled waivers and provide CoTE a copy of that policy, upon request, which will include the name of the district contact person; (iii) tuition and service fee waivers for which the district is eligible may be used by any full-time employee of the district who wishes to enroll in courses at any of the three universities, except for cooperating personnel or listed administrators received tuition and service fee waivers as described above.
