Professional Development for Illinois Licensed Educators
To maintain professional educator licensure, public school personnel must provide the Illinois State Board of Education with evidence of completion for approved professional development activities. Approved professional development activities are designed to support participants’ knowledge, skills, and practices in one or more state teaching standard areas and delivered in alignment with the Standards for Professional Learning.
At the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, educators can earn professional development hours by completing college coursework, participating in approved professional development activities hosted by University-affiliated personnel, working toward ISBE-approved microcredentials, and by working with University educator preparation students who are completing field experiences as part of a licensure program.
