Congratulations!

We have just notified the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) that you have successfully completed an approved program.  To claim and register your license, please follow instructions in the links provided below.  You will need a credit card (MasterCard, Visa, American Express, or Discover) to complete the process.

Be sure to:

1. Log into your ELIS (Educator Licensure Information System) account to review your endorsements.  Before you claim your license/endorsements, be sure that all endorsements you expected to receive are listed.  If an endorsement is not listed, and you claim your license/endorsements, you will have to pay another fee to add the missing endorsement(s).  ISBE rule, not ours!

Please note, you already have an ELIS account and you do not need to make a new one. You can recover your ELIS account login information by providing your login name and email address.  If you continue to have trouble accessing your ELIS account, submit a Feedback Form for further assistance from ISBE staff.

2. Claim and register your license - Click the link for step by step instructions on how to complete this process.  Your license must be registered with the Regional Office of Education (ROE) that serves the school district in which you teach/plan to teach.  If you do not have a job yet, you should register with the ROE that serves the county in which you live.  Upon completion of these steps you have an active, registered license that can be verified online by school hiring agents across the state.  Additional information on how to register your license can be found at https://www.isbe.net/Pages/License-Registration.aspx.  A list of ROEs can be found at https://iarss.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/10/IARSS-Directory_2020_2021_web-1.pdf.

If you received a student loan while you were in college, you may qualify for loan forgiveness.  See https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/teacher and https://studentaid.ed.gov/sa/repay-loans/forgiveness-cancellation/public-service for additional information.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact our office at 217-333-2804.  Problems with the ELIS system should be directed to ISBE.

Best wishes in your career as an educator!
