PDH for Cooperating Personnel Service

Note:  The instructions on this page apply to educators requesting professional development hours (PDHs) for serving as a cooperating mentor to an education licensure candidate. Questions related to attending a PDH event should be directed to the event coordinator.

Thank you!

The Council on Teacher Education sincerely thank you for serving as a cooperating professional (CP) for our educator licensure candidates. We value your partnership and are grateful for the mentoring you provide to our future educators.

Eligibility

As a cooperating professional, you may be eligible to claim professional development hours in recognition of your work. There are some stipulations:

  • For early field experiences (EFE), PDHs range from 2-15 hours based on the number of hours the candidate works with you during the semester. EFE CPs will find the number of PDHs assigned to their placement displayed in the PDH section of the portal.
  • For supervision of final semester student teachers or school service personnel interns, 30 PDHs are available.
  • For mentoring principal or superintendent candidates, administrators may earn 30 PDHs per intern (not per semester).

Requesting PDHs

CPs who want to receive an evidence of completion letter to claim their PDHs follow these steps:

  1. Complete a narrative experience form. This form is located inside the Co-op Portal under “Professional Development Hours (PDHs).” Detailed instructions on the narrative process are available inside the portal.
  2. The program coordinator reviews the narrative experience form. Within 24 hours of the coordinator’s approval, the CP will receive an email containing a link to the evidence of completion form.

Note:  CPs are responsible for uploading their PDHs into their ELIS account for license renewal.

Deadlines for Requesting PDHs

CPs must submit documentation by the deadlines below to claim their PDH:

  • Documentation for the fall semester is due February 15.
  • Documentation for the spring semester is due June 15.
